Fredrik Herodes, group leader for surveillance at Stockholm University

Fredrik Herodes is group leader for surveillance at Stockholm University. In his role, Fredrik collaborates with the security department and the various departments at the university. He is one of those who administers the rounds and commitments of his security guard colleagues during work shifts.

"I have worked in the security industry since 2002. In recent years as a security guard but previously as an airport controller at Arlanda, where I was also occasionally a group leader."

Fredrik entered the security industry shortly after the terrorist attack in the United States in 2001. He worked for several years at Arlanda and was a "test pilot" for most of the technical solutions that were introduced to increase security at the airport. It was a job that gave him many interesting knowledge and insights that are valuable both for the security industry in general but for us in our willingness to challenge and develop. After 14 years at the airport, Fredrik changed his saddle and started working with us at Stockholm University.

Want to make a difference

"I appreciate being able to make a difference and collaborate with the different parts of the university. My working group is dedicated and takes almost personal responsibility for keeping Stockholm University in operation. Being able to convey this to the customer is always very rewarding. The only possible disadvantage of to have such dedicated and committed employees is that they feel irreplaceable. With us, group leaders and Duty Managers receive great support from a central planning department. " According to Fredrik, this means that there is always support for solutions in the event of illness, vacation or other absence.

Great need for security and more colleagues in the industry

In Fredrik's eyes, there will probably always be a great need for security and he hopes that even better training and smarter recruitment will lead to the entire industry getting more committed and security-conscious colleagues in the future.

The technology can make the interaction between customer and security guard almost seamless. Cloud-based services where, for example, reports and completed rounds can reach the customer directly via a mobile app. All documentation an employee may need, such as instructions, maps for objects and more in a clear way in digital format. The paperless society for real.

For Fredrik, a more digitalized and automated future in interaction with human efforts is completely self-evident.
